Lebanon 15, John Stark 6

Highlights: Lebanon secures a dominant victory over John Stark in tough conditions. In a game played under relentless rain at New England College in Henniker, the Raiders delivered a commanding performance. Despite the challenging weather, Lebanon came out strong and never relinquished the lead, showcasing a full-team effort on both ends of the field. Freshman attackman Lang had a breakout game, leading all scorers with eight goals, marking a standout performance early in his high school career. Supporting the offensive surge were juniors Pearson and Madory. Defensively, junior Logan Mason was exceptional in goal, anchoring the Raiders with key saves that helped maintain momentum and shut down John Stark’s scoring opportunities.

Track and Field

Upper Valley athletes finish strong
at Burlington invitational

Thetford Academy’s Ava Hayden and Cassandra Armstrong of White River Valley had strong showings in the Burlington High School Invitational on Saturday.

Competing against 27 other schools, Hayden won the 1,500 and 3,000 meters, and Armstrong won the 400 meters and pole vault and was fifth in the 200 meters.

The Thetford boys had another impressive outing, capturing third place, and the White River Valley girls finished seventh.

Thetford’s Uly Junker won the long jump and teammate Evan Rich the high jump. The Panthers’ Brady Sloop was second in the 800 meters and the 4x100 relay team of Rich, Junker, Emmett Terry and Sebastian Perdrizet finished second.

Thetford’s David Stanger was second in the discus and fourth in the shot put. For Oxbow, Rueben Keefe was second in the high jump with Thetford’s Hunter Clay fourth. White River Valley’s Ellis Bogardus took third in the discus and teammate Jack Hughes was fourth in the triple jump. For the Wildcat girls, Imari Taylor was third in the shot put and fifth in the discus. Oxbow’s Brianna Marsh took sixth in the javelin.

Boys team scores: Essex 130, St, Johnsbury 99.5, Thetford 69, Mount Mansfield 64, U-32 52, Champlain Valley 38, Burlington 35, Montpelier 22, South Burlington 21, Colchester 20, White River Valley 16, Oxbow (11, 15th).

Girls team scores: Essex 99.5, Colchester 63, Champlain Valley 63, U-32 61.5, St. Johnsbury 51, North Country 40, White River Valley 39, Rice 36, Peoples 31, South Burlington 31, Thetford (22, 12th), Oxbow (3, 25th).

White River Valley
third at SVL meet

The White River Valley boys and girls track teams finished third among six teams at a Southern Vermont League meet at Springfield High School.

The girls scored several event wins, including the 100 and 200 meters won by Cassandra Armstrong, who was also second in the 100 meter hurdles; Anya Young’s win in the 800 meters and Olivia Tuller’s shot put victory. For the boys, Ellis Bogardis won the shot put and discus, Samuel Armstrong the 110-meter hurdles and Allen Wedge the 200 meters.

MaCallister Gray won the high jump, triple jump and long jump and finished third in the 400 meters for Sharon Academy. Also for the Phoenix girls, Abby Chase was second in the discus and third in the shot put and Evelyn Murawski was second in the 1,500 meters. Finn Proulx was first in the 3,000 meters and second in the 800 meters for the Sharon boys, and teammate Phoenix Colburn was second in the 110 hurdles.

Other results for the White River Valley boys included third-place finishes by Wedge (400 meters, high jump), George Roda (800 meters) and Liam White (1,500 meters). Third place for the Wildcat girls were Madelyn Gibson (1,500), Hannah Collins (triple jump) and Olivia Tuller (discus). Orion Bee (javelin) and Hayden Jarrait (110 hurdles) were third for Sharon boys.

Boys team scores: Springfield 211.5, Green Mountain 120, White River Valley 107.5, Sharon 86, Bellows Falls 14, Twin Valley 2.
