CORNISH — Police are seeking information about suspicious activity involving three teens in Cornish and charges are pending after an altercation with police early Saturday morning, according to Cornish Police Chief Doug Hackett.

Officers from Cornish, Claremont and the New Hampshire State Police responded to a report of “three suspicious males” at 2:37 a.m. on Saturday and found three male teenagers walking on Townhouse Road between Dingleton Hill Road and Moonlite Drive, Hackett said in a news release.

Two of the teens were carrying knives and, as police attempted to detain the juveniles, “one juvenile began to fight with the officers. During this apprehension, one officer was injured and required medical treatment for his injuries.” the release said.

The teens, who ranged in age between 14 and 16, are suspected of thefts from vehicles in Windsor, Cornish and possibly Plainfield, the release said.

Hackett said the teens were detained and then released to family, and that charges are likely to be filed in juvenile court. He said the police officer was not stabbed and is home on injury leave.

Police are asking people who live near Route 12A and Townhouse Road to report any items missing from their vehicles and to check any exterior camera systems for suspicious activity before 2:37 a.m. on Saturday by calling 603-543-0535 or emailing Doug.Hackett@CornishNH.net.
