Local roundup: WRJ Post 84 makes most of opportunities in BF victory

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — White River Junction Post 84 scored three early runs and Colin Vielleux pitched himself out of a third-inning jam to set the table for a 3-2 Vermont American Legion baseball win over Bellows Falls Post 37 at Maxfield Sports Complex on Tuesday night.
Vielleux worked into the seventh inning for Post 84 (4-2), holding BF (3-3)to four hits and striking out four. Alex Bushway relieved late, getting the final two outs for the save.
WRJ managed just six hits, spread around six players, but made the most of them. Daniel Bushway (single) and Nick Martin (fielder’s choice) scored on second-inning passed balls to give Post 84 the lead. Jacob Swinell made it 3-0 in the third on a single, stolen base and two more passed balls.
WRJ visits Bennington Post 13 for a doubleheader on Saturday.
LEBANON — Nashua Post 3 (6-1) used a four-run fifth inning to break open a tie game and beat Lebanon Post 22 (3-4) in a New Hampshire District A junior contest at Lebanon High School.
Shortstop Zander Doyle had a strong game at the plate for Post 22, going 3-for-4 and accounting for half of Lebanon’s hits. Shea Curley had a hit and an RBI for Lebanon.
Post 22 returns to action on Thursday, hosting Weare Post 65.
