LEBANON — Weare Post 65 made the most of Lebanon Post 22 generosity to get back into the ballgame, ultimately using single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to earn an 8-7 win in a New Hampshire American Legion District A junior baseball game at Lebanon High School on Sunday.

Post 22 (3-6) held a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning when three walks and three errors contributed to three runs for Weare (1-5). The visitors took the lead for good in extra innings and wiggled out of a two-on, no-outs jam in the home eighth after Lebanon’s Bodie Benoit and Spencer Cunningham both singled and stole bases to open the frame.

Lebanon was ultimately done in by leaving nine runners on base and issuing 13 walks to Post 65 batters, Post 22 coach Chauncey Wood said.

“We have to be better with those opportunities,” Wood noted. “It’s hard to win with those numbers.”

Cunningham went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead Post 22 at the plate. Benoit and Zander Doyle both had 2-for-5 days; Doyle srove in two runs, and Benoit contributed a double.

Lebanon starter Freddy Mierke struck out eight over three innings but allowed six walks. Reliever Oliver Sperry eventually took the loss despite allowing just one hit over 1⅔ innings of work.

Lebanon visits Nashua Post 3 on Tuesday.
