Rainy, warm weather delays Storrs Hill ski season opener

Cory Grant, President of the Lebanon Outing Club, uses a snow groomer to spread snow produced by a Demaclenko fan gun at Storrs Hill Ski Area in Lebanon, N.H., on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022. Storrs Hill has had to delay their public opening date due to fluctuating temperatures and poor snowmaking conditions, but they plan to open the ski area on Friday. “We used to start after Thanksgiving, now you’re lucky if you can start making snow the second or third week of December,” Grant said. LEBANON — Due to rainy weather, Storrs Hill Ski Area opening date has been postponed.

Early Saturday morning, the Lebanon Outing Club at Storrs Hill announced in a Facebook post that Storrs Hill Ski Area would not be opening over the Dec. 28 through 29 weekend as anticipated, because of “unseasonably warm temperatures and predicted rain.”

It is unknown when the hill will be open. A Facebook post on Sunday morning announced the outing club “will provide updates regarding New Year’s Eve day and evening skiing.”

Once open and as conditions allow, Storrs Hill Ski Area will operate Fridays 5 to 9 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. During school vacations, the hill will also be open from noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Ski passes to Storrs Hill are free this season thanks to a grant from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation.

For updates on when the hill will be open, go to the Lebanon Outing Club at Storrs Hill’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063812070102.
